FINER LIVING WITH PACKAGING

2018-04-16

Where beauty is involved the appearance of packaging is just as important to most consumers as the product itself or the hoped-for embellishing effect after its use. This applies especially to the high-priced segment of luxury goods. Extraordinary perfume bottles are preferably adorned with gilded elements or 3D laser engraving and safely “embedded” in high-end carton boxes. Oblique recesses or trims and colour or stamped foil design plus exquisite magnetic closures add that certain something to these ‘wrappings’.

HIGH QUALITY AND UTILITY
Simplicity, however, can also make an impact; as with the glass bottles with their colourful closures made of packaging plastic Surlyn® by DuPont. Its special transparency enhances the vibrancy of the striking colours while giving the product extra brilliance. Thanks to its high flexibility Surlyn® is also a popular material for tubes. These tubes are easy to compress thereby making for a well-controlled dosage when used. The German Weckerle Group has already used this plastic for extrusion blowforming lip-gloss tubes of various brands. The high-gloss and pleasant-to-touch surface of the tube underline the luxurious impression while the stiffness and high chemical resistance protects the contents.

DECORATIVE BOXES
The right looks not only count in the luxury cosmetics market. Even simple paper tissue boxes are given an extraordinary and high-quality design these days. The Tempo Tissue Brand regularly develops new styles for its popular Tempo box in keeping with their consumers’ differing lifestyles. Since October 2017 the designs ’Nature’, ‘Expressive’ and ‘Style’ have been available in German stores. Based on current trends in fashion and interior design discreet colours are combined here with natural elements or geometric shapes and metallic effects. For kids the boxes boast a hip design with cheeky straplines and folding features.
